Macao’s former top judge, Sam Hou-fai, was elected chief executive-designate of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) after garnering 394 votes from the 400-strong Chief Executive Election Committee on Sunday morning.
The voting for the SAR's sixth-term CE election started at 10 am at the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Complex and ended within 30 minutes.

Sam said he will lead the city in seizing opportunities to nurture development, prosperity, and unity for a brighter future for the city.
Pending approval by the central government, the 62-year-old chief executive-designate is set to succeed incumbent Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng, serving a five-year term starting from December 20.
