Peng seeks stronger ties between Chinese, Senegalese people

Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, had a chat over tea with Marie Khone Faye, wife of visiting Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, on Wednesday in Beijing.

Noting that China and Senegal share a lot of similarities in cultural traditions and other aspects, Peng said she expects that the Chinese people and Senegalese people will deepen mutual understanding and friendship through cultural exchanges.

Peng also said she is willing to share experience in such areas as women's education and health care with the Senegalese first lady to jointly promote women's development in China and Africa.

Marie Khone Faye, who is accompanying Faye for on his first state visit to China, spoke highly of Peng's long-time care and concern for the women and children in African countries, including Senegal, as well as China's support for improving Senegalese people's well-being.

She also expressed readiness to further promote China-Senegal exchanges and cooperation and bring forward the two countries' friendship.
