HONG KONG – The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government has said it is highly concerned over the massive outage of Microsoft systems on Friday that caused flight disruptions in the city, as in many other places across the world.

“The operation of government systems has remained normal and no incident report is received from departments in relation to their systems, including critical infrastructures under their purview,” the government said in a notification Friday night.

Deputy Chief Secretary Warner Cheuk Wing-hing has been assigned to monitor the situation.

He has asked government departments to closely keep in view developments under their purview and remain prepared to make prompt responses and immediate reports where necessary.

Cheuk will also give instructions as necessary, the government added.

“As regards individual airlines whose systems are affected by the Microsoft system outage, the Hong Kong International Airport has immediately activated the emergency response system to minimize the impact of the incident on travelers,” the government notifications reads.
