HONG KONG - A dance-drama version of Romeo and Juliet was staged in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, from Friday to Sunday. 

Through the storytelling by British choreographer and director Matthew Bourne, the performance reimagined British playwright William Shakespeare's classic romantic tragedy with a blend of modern dance with classical ballet.

Since its creation over 400 years ago, the well-known story of a forbidden love has become the inspiration for countless artists and has been adapted into operas, symphonies, ballet dramas and films.
