BRATISLAVA - The gunman who attempted to assassinate Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in May will face additional charges, according to the country's prosecutor general on Thursday.

After facing a charge of attempted murder, the suspect -- named by Slovak media as 71-year-old poet Juraj Cintula -- now faces terror charges, the Associated Press reports.

Fico sustained four gunshot wounds in an attack on May 15 when he greeted supporters after chairing a government meeting in the central Slovak town of Handlova. If his recovery goes smoothly, Fico said he would return to work at the end of June or early July.
