HONG KONG - The Commissioner's Office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has expressed strong dissatisfaction and severe condemnation of the clumsy political drama staged by the consulates general of the United States, Britain and other countries in Hong Kong and the European Union Office to Hong Kong on Tuesday, saying that these were attempts to create confrontation, incite confrontation and maliciously smear China's image.

A spokesperson for the office said that the great achievements made in the 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China fully demonstrate that the development path China has chosen is completely correct and has been firmly supported by all Chinese people. Hong Kong has bid farewell to the turbulent situation and fully implemented the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong", showing the efficient operation of the HKSAR government and new atmosphere in the whole society.

The spokesperson said that a small number of external forces are determined to hype up an event that has long concluded. Some officials of foreign institutions in Hong Kong have ignored the basic ethics and code of conduct of consular officials, staged a political farce, and played the old tricks of ideological infiltration and peaceful evolution under the guise of "human rights". Their intentions of disrupting Hong Kong and containing China are obvious, the spokesperson said.

"We urge the institutions of relevant countries in Hong Kong to recognize the situation, abide by international law and basic norms of international relations, immediately stop anti-China political manipulation, and not interfere in Hong Kong affairs, which are China's internal affairs," the spokesperson said.
