Iran's Bagheri Kani discusses cooperation with Russian counterpart

TEHRAN - Iranian Caretaker Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani said on Saturday that he has exchanged views with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on bilateral cooperation.

In a phone conversation with Lavrov, Bagheri Kani said that the bilateral, regional and international cooperation between Tehran and Moscow was improving, according to a statement posted by the Iranian minister on social media platform X.

The path of multilateralism was the strategic choice of Iran and Russia for the formation of a just world, in which players would be given the opportunity to play their roles based on their capacities, said Bagheri Kani

Elaborating on the phone conversation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two sides had discussed bilateral cooperation as well as the implementation of joint projects and agreements.

The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to the strategic partnership between Russia and Iran, and voiced readiness to implement the existing agreements and projects in various areas, said the ministry.

According to the statement, the Russian minister extended condolences to Bagheri Kani over the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a recent helicopter crash.
