BEIJING - The Chinese Football Association announced on Saturday that 50-year-old Australian Ante Milicic is the new head coach of China's national women's football team.

"In order to prepare for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup and 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, the CFA decided, following the assessment of experts, to hire Ante Milicic as the new head coach of China's women's national team," read a CFA statement.

According to the CFA, Milicic was an AFC Pro coach. A former Australia international, he played in top-tier leagues in Australia, the Netherlands and Croatia.

Milicic has coached Australia's men's U23 and U19 teams, as well as Australia's women's senior national team.
