KABUL/ISLAMABAD — Eight people have been killed in an operation by Pakistani security forces from Sunday to Monday, the Pakistani military said in a statement.

The Pakistani security forces conducted the intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district on the reported presence of "terrorists", the Pakistani military's media wing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in the statement.

At least seven security personnel, including two Pakistani military officers, were killed in an attack by terrorists on Saturday in the district located along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

On Monday, the Afghan caretaker government denied the presence of the terror group Tahreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, known as TTP, in Afghanistan. The Afghan side also condemned the attack by the Pakistani military, saying the incident, which took place in Afghanistan's territory, claimed eight civilian lives. The two countries share an over 2,000-km border which covers a number of disputed areas.
