At least 5 killed in landslide in southern Philippines

MANILA - At least five people were killed and 31 others injured due to a landslide on Tuesday that buried two buses and houses in a mining town in southern Philippines, local authorities said on Wednesday.

The landslide took place on Tuesday night near a mining site in Maco town of Davao de Oro province, a local disaster agency said.

The passenger buses were ferrying workers from the mining site when the disaster struck, with several people buried in the landslide.

Local authorities have mobilized personnel to rescue the victims and evacuated villagers from the affected town.
