Hawaii police arrest attacker on Chinese citizen

LOS ANGELES - Honolulu Police Department has arrested a male for attacking a Chinese citizen in downtown Honolulu of the US state of Hawaii, according to a release from the police department.

Shortly before 9 pm Thursday, HPD officers arrested the 29-year-old male in the Nimitz area in Honolulu for second-degree attempted murder. Charges will be sought with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, according to HPD.

Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Guo Shaochun made representations to the person in charge of the Hawaii state government and strongly condemned the incident

A Chinese citizen was splashed with chemical liquid on a street in downtown Honolulu on Tuesday evening. The Chinese citizen was seriously injured and received medical treatment in hospital, according to a release of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles.

Based on initial investigation, the 25-year-old victim told witnesses that she was walking near Planet Fitness when an unknown male threw an unknown liquid on her, causing her skin and clothes to burn, according to local police.

Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Guo Shaochun made representations to the person in charge of the Hawaii state government and strongly condemned the incident.

Guo requested the Hawaii state government facilitate the medical treatment of the injured, and urged the police department to speed up the investigation and bring the perpetrator to justice as soon as possible.
