TEHRAN - Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday two of its servicemen were killed by Israeli forces in Syria.
The two servicemen, identified as Mohammad-Ali Ataei Shourcheh and Panah Taqizadeh, "were martyred while conducting an advisory mission in Syria's Islamic resistance front," the IRGC's official news outlet Sepah News quoted an IRGC statement as saying, without specifying the time and location of the killing.
The IRGC said it had sent condolences to the two servicemen's families and colleagues.
Earlier in the day, the state-owned Syrian TV said an Israeli missile attack had hit military sites in the vicinity of the Syrian capital Damascus.
The Syrian army said in a statement that around 1:35 am local time (2235 GMT) Saturday, Israel conducted an aerial attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, targeting some military points in the vicinity of Damascus.
