Woman charged with murder for deaths of three children

HONG KONG - Police laid on Tuesday a holding charge against a 29-year-old woman suspected of killing her three daughters in Sham Shui Po. 

Police said in a statement it charged the woman, who is of Indian origin, with three counts of murder to keep her in police custody until her case is brought before the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday morning for mention.  

The woman was arrested Monday after her three daughters, aged 2 to 5, were found unresponsive in their sub-divided flat. All three children were confirmed dead after being sent to hospital

Police told reporters on Monday afternoon that the woman may have smothered the three children with a pillow as a small amount of blood was found on a pillow in the flat and in the mouth and nose of one of the victims.

Police were told the woman had called her mother, who lives in the New Territories, and confessed that she had killed her three daughters over the phone. The woman's mother then told her son, the suspect's younger brother, to call the police.
