Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, met community members and listened to the opinions of local residents on Friday, the second day of his six-day inspection tour in Hong Kong.
Xia began the day at a dim sum restaurant in Kowloon Bay, where he sampled some of the local cuisine. He then visited the District Health Centre in the nearby neighborhood of Sham Shui Po, and the Shamshuipo District Elderly Community Centre — which provides counseling and integrated home care services for the elderly — where he talked with staff and caretakers and encouraged them to keep up the good work.
Xia also visited the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions headquarters in To Kwa Wan at around 11 am.

Tang said Xia had highlighted that district representatives and councilors should work with the government to promote government policies, as well as relay the actual needs and opinions of residents to officials.
There were also other customers at the restaurant. They said that Xia greeted the residents kindly and warmly. They also thanked the central government for its care for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the residents.
One of the volunteers at the community center, who had briefly shared her feelings about her work with Xia, said he was gracious, kind and humorous. The elderly volunteer said Xia spoke highly of their work and encouraged them to keep up with the good work.
Xia arrived in the city on Thursday and was greeted by high-ranking officials at the airport. On Thursday, he heard work reports from and exchanged views with Hong Kong SAR Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and other top Hong Kong officials. He also had talks with other non-official executive councilors.
