BEIJING - A Chinese defense spokesperson on Thursday said the Chinese military is willing to work with its Russian counterpart to deepen exchanges and cooperation under current mechanisms, enhance mutual trust between the two militaries, and make new contributions to safeguarding international and regional security and stability as well as to building a human community with a shared future.

Tan Kefei, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, made the remarks at a press conference.

China-Russia relations are not the same kind of military-political alliance as during the Cold War, but transcend such a model of state-to-state relations and have the nature of non-alignment, non-confrontation and non-targeting of third parties, said Tan.
