O'Sullivan cruises into snooker Masters quarters

LONDON - World No 1 Ronnie O'Sullivan outplayed Belgium's Luca Brecel 6-1 to cruise into the quarterfinals of snooker's Masters on Monday.

"I gave everything 100 percent today, played my game and hoped to get a result," O'Sullivan was quoted as saying by the World Snooker Tour website. "It is never guaranteed but it went my way today."

The 47-year-old will now play the winner between Mark Williams and David Gilbert.

Later on Monday, veteran John Higgins was knocked out of the invitational tournament by Jack Lisowski.

Lisowski, 31, had failed in the first round in his previous three appearances at the Masters, but defeated Higgins 6-3 this time to set up a quarterfinal clash with Iranian debutant Hossein Vafaei, who had stunned world No. 2 Mark Selby 6-2 on Sunda
