BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.55 percent to 3,024.39 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.29 percent lower at 10,778.61 points.
The turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 560.84 billion yuan (about US$79 billion), down from 624.57 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares in the sectors of traditional Chinese medicine and real estate led the gains, while those related to tourism suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.89 percent to close at 2,288.97 points on Friday.
