32 COVID-19 cases found in Sham Shui Po targeted testing

HONG KONG – The Hong Kong government said it finished two targeted testing operations in Sham Shui Po district Saturday morning and detected a total of 32 preliminary positive COVID-19 cases.

In view of the number of preliminary positive cases identified at Un Shing House, all residents there are required to undergo compulsory testing two more times – the first one by Sunday and the second one between Feb 14 and 16 – to avoid missing any cases

The government set up “restricted areas” at Un Shing House of Un Chau Estate and Begonia House of So Uk Estate Friday evening after the coronavirus was detected in sewage discharged from the buildings.

Around 1,980 residents of Un Shing House underwent compulsory testing and 23 of them tested preliminarily positive to COVID-19, the government said. Meanwhile, nine preliminary cases were found as around 100 people were tested in the Begonia House operation.

In view of the number of preliminary positive cases identified at Un Shing House, all residents there are required to undergo compulsory testing two more times – the first one by Sunday and the second between Feb 14 and 16 – to avoid missing any cases, the government said.

It added that 52 households of Un Shing House and 15 ones at Begonia House did not answer the door when government staff visited overnight, adding that follow-up measures will be taken.

The government stressed that anyone in the "restricted area" who fails to present an SMS notification with a test result as proof of having undergone testing breaches the compulsory testing notice and may be liable to a fine of HK$10,000.
