Hong Kong police arrested a 46-year-old man on Monday after his vehicle fatally hit a 71-year-old woman in Tseung Kwan O town in the city.

A light goods vehicle driven by the man was traveling along Po Lam Road North towards Lohas Park around 6 pm when the accident happened.

While approaching 20 Po Lam Road North, it reportedly knocked down the woman who was crossing the road, according to police.

With serious head and leg injuries, the woman was rushed unconscious to Tseung Kwan O Hospital where she was certified dead at 6:49 pm.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and detained for further inquiries.
