Xi congratulates Akufo-Addo on reelection as Ghanaian president

BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday congratulated Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his re-election as president of Ghana.

In recent years, China-Ghana relations have witnessed rapid development with fruitful cooperation in various fields, Xi said

In a congratulatory message, Xi said that the friendship between China and Ghana dates back a long time and that Ghana is an important cooperative partner for China in Africa.

Xi recalled that he held a fruitful meeting with Akufo-Addo during the latter's successful visit to China in September 2018.

In recent years, China-Ghana relations have witnessed rapid development with fruitful cooperation in various fields, he said.

Noting that he attaches great importance to the development of the bilateral ties, Xi said he stands ready to work together with Akufo-Addo to push forward traditional friendship, achieve fresh outcomes in bilateral relations and bring more benefits to the two countries and peoples.

Meanwhile, Chinese Vice-President Wang Qishan on Saturday congratulated Mahamudu Bawumia on his re-election as vice president of Ghana.

Noting that China highly values its relations with Ghana, Wang said that he is ready to work with Bawumia to push for new progress in the friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries and bring more benefits to the two peoples.
