To the foreign ministers of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States Secretary of State,
We are a group of Hong Kong citizens writing to express our disdain at the wildly inaccurate statement issued by the above five countries following the November 18th meeting in the Canadian capital of Ottawa. The joint statement falsely condemned China for imposing new rules disqualifying four Hong Kong Legislative Council members as a “clear breach” of Hong Kong’s autonomy, liberties, and the Sino-British Joint Declaration.
The clandestine organization is nothing but a weapon wielded by the United States to launch attacks on other countries based on false pretexts to bolster its own interests
Nothing could be further from the truth. So allow us the right to exercise our freedom of speech to expose the relentless onslaught of the Western propaganda machine.
Before we begin, we would like to bring to question the legitimacy of the so-called “Five Eyes” alliance, and the purpose of its formation. It appears that the clandestine organization is nothing but a weapon wielded by the United States to launch attacks on other countries based on false pretexts to bolster its own interests.

We need not look far for an answer. Home-grown American whistleblower Edward Snowden described the alliance as a “supra-national intelligence organization that does not answer to the known laws of its own countries.”
This whole scenario brought back vivid memories of how the US defied the National Security Council’s decision and coerced the UK into joining hands with it to wage war on Iraq in 2003. The war was waged on false accusations of the existence of Weapons of Mass Destruction, which of course never existed. It’s been well-documented that “Five Eyes” employed clandestine methods as part of a “dirty tricks” campaign to pressure US allies into agreeing to use force on Iraq.
The made-up intelligence report that led to the invasion of Iraq cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent people which triggered a massive outflow of refugees across the world. Why the world never held the US accountable for completely ruining Iraq nor demanded compensation for Iraq were entirely beyond out comprehension.
The brazen allegations by the so-called Five Eyes alliance on Hong Kong’s freedom being diminished is part of an ongoing chorus of the West anti-China narrative which tried to discredit Hong Kong’s National Security Law
It appears America is resorting to similar tactics on Hong Kong. The brazen allegations by the so-called Five Eyes alliance on Hong Kong’s freedom being diminished is part of an ongoing chorus of the West anti-China narrative which tried to discredit Hong Kong’s National Security Law.
Your false assertion that the disqualification of the four Hong Kong legislators is part of a campaign to silence critics is a mockery of the principles of the rule of law. May we remind your alliance why the four legislators in question were deemed unfit for office. They called for Hong Kong independence; sought foreign interference; refused to accept China’s sovereignty over Hong Kong, and threatened National Security.

Not only is your tiresome rhetoric hypocritical, we consider it to be downright deplorable and immoral.
The Sino-British Joint Declaration championed the fundamental rights and freedom of Hong Kong citizens, but it did not give people unlimited freedom to act as they please. Would any country endorse its citizens looting and destroying property; attempting to silence innocent civilians and committing various acts of treason?
To illustrate our point, may we direct your attention to the annual Human Freedom Index that is jointly published by the Washington, D. C.-based libertarian think tank Cato Institute, Vancouver-based public policy think tank Fraser Institute, and Zurich-based liberal think tank Liberales Institut at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. As your alliance is undoubtedly aware, Hong Kong has always ranked near the top of the benchmark since its first edition in 2015.
In the 2019 report, Hong Kong ranked 3rd in the world in human freedom behind New Zealand and Switzerland. That placed Hong Kong right in front of Canada (4th) and Australia (5th), but way ahead of established democracies such as the UK (14th) and the US (15th).
We want your alliance to leave Hong Kong alone in your ongoing ploy to check China’s rise in global importance. We in Hong Kong will always stand guard of our rights and livelihood and will defend wholeheartedly against any attempted interference from other countries.
We are not privy to the true inner workings of your alliance’s agenda. But by the same token, please do not make any presumptions that your alliance represents the voice of Hong Kong citizens, when in fact your alliance is using Hong Kong as chess pieces in your political machinations against the Chinese mainland.
A group of concerned Hong Kong citizens
