BUENOS AIRES - Veteran Argentinian forward Carlos Tevez has agreed to a six-month contract extension with Boca Juniors and pledged to donate his salary for the rest of 2020 to help combat COVID-19.
The 36-year-old said he was motivated by a desire to win the Copa Libertadores at the club with whom he began his professional career in 2001
"I'm staying at Boca," Tevez told Radio La Red on Friday. "We decided with my family that I would donate my salary to a non-profit entity. I don't want money. I want to play for six more months and win the Libertadores."
The 36-year-old said he was motivated by a desire to win the Copa Libertadores at the club with whom he began his professional career in 2001.

Tevez's third spell with the Buenos Aires giants had been due to end on June 30.
He also revealed a wish to finish his career with Corinthians or West Ham, two of the seven clubs that he has represented professionally. The others are Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus and Shanghai Shenhua.

Football in Argentina has been suspended since mid-March and there has been no indication of when it might resume.
The South American country has more than 55,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and over 1,100 deaths.
