PARIS - German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on Thursday confirmed that they have signed right back Thomas Meunier from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Thomas Meunier penned on a four-year contract with Borussia Dortmund

The 28-year-old, who penned on a four-year contract with the Ruhr-based club, will join his Belgian compatriot Axel Witsel and Thorgan Hazard at Signal Iduna Park.

"Borussia Dortmund play exactly the type of football I want to play: exciting, authentic and natural," Meunier said in a statement.

PSG saw off Dortmund in the Champions League round of 16 ties 3-2 on aggregate in March, when Meunier's performance impressed the German powerhouses.

"Thomas Meunier is a player who has demonstrated his qualities at the highest level in the Champions League and in the national team over a long period of time," Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc said. "He'll really benefit us with his experience."

Meunier moved to the Parc des Princes from Belgian club Brugge in 2016. He capped for the Ligue 1 giants in 128 games during the past four seasons and won three league titles with the team.
