The photo taken from the official Facebook account of Chang'an Athletic club shows a young man waving the team flag of Chang'an Athletic.

XI'AN - Chinese second tier football club Chang'an Athletic released its 2020 season jersey through its official social media account on Tuesday. 

The jersey features an animal mask pattern carved in ancient Chinese bronze.

The club's new home kit is red with a yellow away kit. Both jerseys are printed with the animal mask pattern.

"The pattern was always seen in the bronze wares of the pre-Qin period (before 221 B.C). We got the idea from the archives of the Shaanxi history museum," Chang'an Athletic wrote in its media release.

"The animal mask is a symbol of courage, bravery and justice in ancient times. We hope it encourages our players to play harder and braver in the new season," The club added.

Shaanxi is considered one of the cradles of the Chinese civilization. Thirteen feudal dynasties established their capitals in the province during a span of more than 1,100 years. In China, Shaanxi's history museum is one of the most popular museums.

As a newly-promoted team in China's second tier, Chang'an Athletic finished the 2019 season sitting in 9th of 16 teams in the standings.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the Chinese domestic football matches of the 2020 season have been postponed.
