Hong Kong police chief has expressed his hope the city’s law enforcement officers would continue to stay united and committed to combating violence and restoring peace and order in Hong Kong as they had done during the past six months of civil unrest.

Noting his excitement in watching the ceremony for the first time, Tang thanked the country’s unfailing support for the city’s police force.
Tang is on a courtesy visit to the capital city after taking over the post last month amid violence which has gripped the city since mid-June over the now-withdrawn extradition bill.

He met State Councilor and Public Security Minister Zhao Kezhi on Friday. Zhao reiterated the central government’s support for the Hong Kong Police Force to rigorously enforce the law and stressed that the SAR’s police force always would be backed by the central government and the Ministry of Public Security.
Tang will return to Hong Kong on Dec 8.
