Legendary Brazilian guitar duo Assad Brothers will bring their signature sound to Hong Kong as a stop of the farewell tour celebrating their 60-year musical partnership on Oct 30.
Presented as part of the fourth Asia+ Festival, the concert "Guitar Duo Recital by Assad Brothers" will also feature local guzheng virtuoso Wan Xing as a guest artist, creating a musical exchange designed to transcend geographical and cultural boundaries.
As leading figures in the classical guitar world for over half a century, Assad brothers, Sérgio and Odair, are widely acclaimed for their virtuosity and telepathic unity. Their music fuses Brazilian folk, Latin, jazz and classical elements, earning them multiple Latin Grammy Awards over the years.
The Hong Kong gig will feature celebrated works from the duo’s career, including mesmerizing tango music by Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, Brazilian-flavored works by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos and original compositions by Sérgio Assad, alongside rarely heard Brazilian musical treasures.

To mark the China-Brazil Year of Culture, Wan will join the duo to perform a piece inspired by the folkloric legend of Mulan, which will combine the oriental resonance of the guzheng with the Latin flair of the classical guitar to bridge Eastern and Western musical traditions.

The 90-minute performance will be held at 8 pm, with a 20-minute interval, at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall.
Tickets – priced at HK$200, HK$300 and HK$420 – are available via URBTIX. There are also options for booking over phone and with mobile app.
