ANKARA – Turkiye, Qatar, Pakistan and Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding in Doha on Wednesday to strengthen defense cooperation, enhance military capabilities and expand collaboration in defense industries, according to the Turkish Defence Ministry.

The agreement, called the "Badr Memorandum of Understanding," aims to promote cooperation in military production, technical military training, research and development, according to a ministry statement.

By combining the four countries' respective military production capabilities, the initiative seeks to improve defense industrial capacities, facilitate integration and help meet the needs of allied and friendly countries, said the statement.

The accord is also expected to broaden military cooperation among the signatories and strengthen their defense industry ties, contributing to regional security and shared objectives.

Turkiye, a NATO member, has been supporting Gulf countries in strengthening their defense capabilities amid the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, including Qatar, where Ankara maintains a military base.
