WeChat has permanently banned an account which generated videos using artificial intelligence with unauthorized images of celebrities.

The account named "Huajie Meifuriji" — meaning sister Hua's skincare diary — posted AI-generated videos with unauthorized images of celebrities such as actress Wu Yue and table tennis player Deng Yaping and sold goods online.

Wu Yue reported the account on her Weibo early Sunday morning, angrily criticizing those "who use AI to do such evil deeds and how much did sister Hua make (through these behaviors). Do return the money to customers! These behaviors are extremely bad!"

The account has been banned permanently by WeChat with all its videos being deleted, as reported by Guangming Daily on Monday.
