DAMASCUS – Syria on Sunday condemned what it described as continued Israeli violations of its territory, following the resumption of construction work on a military project along the disengagement line in the southern province of Quneitra.

In a statement, the Syrian foreign authority said the latest violation involved the res

umption of work on what Israel calls the "Sufa 53" line, describing the move as a "clear breach" of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and a violation of international legitimacy.

The authority said continued Israeli military actions, including incursions and other military movements, pose a direct threat to regional peace and stability and undermine international law.

It urged the international community to take "deterrent measures" to halt such practices and prevent their recurrence.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces resumed construction work west of al-Asha village in the southern countryside of Quneitra as part of the "Sufa 53" project, according to local reports.

The project, which began in 2022, involves a military road and a network of fortifications and observation positions along areas adjacent to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Syrian reports say the route runs through or near several areas of Quneitra and lies within territory covered by the 1974 disengagement arrangements.

The 1974 agreement established a UN-monitored area of separation between Syrian and Israeli forces following the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.
