Hong Kong faced another bout of heavy rainfall on Wednesday morning due to a broad trough of low pressure affecting the Guangdong coast and the northern South China Sea.

The Hong Kong Observatory reported that upper-air disturbances are expected to bring intensified showers and squally thunderstorms to the region from the weekend into early next week, and an area of low pressure may develop over the trough.

By midweek next week, a southerly airstream is projected to influence the Guangdong coast, resulting in continued showers interspersed with sunny intervals, according to the observatory.
