With weak winds along the coast of Guangdong on Friday, temperatures generally reached around 33 C across the region, according to the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO). Hong Kong residents, meanwhile, experienced extremely hot conditions in the afternoon.

The outer subsiding air from Severe Typhoon Bavi contributed to mainly fine weather along the eastern coast of Guangdong.

The observatory said that the weather will be mainly fine on Friday night. On Saturday morning, temperatures are expected to drop to a minimum of around 28 C.

The day will be extremely hot, with maximum temperatures reaching approximately 35 C in urban areas and slightly higher in the New Territories. Isolated showers are anticipated later in the day. Light winds will shift to moderate to fresh from the west to southwest later on Saturday, the HKO added.
