SYDNEY - Police in the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) said in a statement on Sunday that a woman had been charged with murder after the body of a child was found inside a home.

Police attended the property on the state's Central Coast at 4:40 pm local time on Saturday for a welfare check and found the child's body after a 32-year-old woman went to a police station.

Police said that the child had not been formally identified but was believed to be a four-year-old boy.

The 32-year-old woman was arrested at the police station and was charged with murder on Sunday following inquiries.
