A newly commissioned terminal at Hong Kong International Airport began operations on Wednesday.

Hong Kong Airlines became the first carrier to relocate to the new Terminal 2, operating a morning flight to Shanghai in its inaugural departure.

Fifteen airlines will move their check-in counters from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 in phases. The new terminal is supported by upgraded public transport links, including 46 airport bus routes and the newly opened Platforms 3 and 4 at the Airport Station.

China Daily's Andy Chong took the photos on Wednesday.
