Twelve finalists storm a bun tower during the final round of a bun scrambling competition on the soccer field of Pak Tai Temple’s playground on Cheung Chau island, Hong Kong, on Monday midnight.
Racing against the clock, competitors scrambled to reach the highest-scoring “peace buns” on the top of the tower as they vied for the king and queen title, as well as the Full Pockets of Lucky Buns award for most buns picked up.
The competition marks the climax of the Cheung Chau Ban Festival, which falls on the eighth day of the fourth month of the Chinese lunar calendar.
China Daily’s Adam Lam took the photos.
