China's Ministry of Public Security said on Friday that police have intensified efforts to crack down on the illegal cross-border sale of drug-making substances and new psychoactive substances, as some offenders have continued to traffic sensitive chemicals overseas despite repeated warnings.

In recent years, the China National Narcotics Control Commission has issued multiple notices reminding enterprises and individuals to exercise caution when selling drug-making substances and new psychoactive substances abroad, in order to guard against overseas legal risks.

However, some offenders have continued to smuggle controlled and non-controlled precursor chemicals, new psychoactive substances and other sensitive chemicals overseas, gradually forming illegal chemical supply chains, the ministry said.

The ministry said it has launched several rounds of special operations to strengthen enforcement and control. Since 2025, public security authorities have successfully handled 29 related criminal cases, arrested 157 suspects, and seized 720 kilograms of drugs, 1.3 metric tons of new psychoactive substances and 0.9 kilograms of stimulants. In addition, a total of 27.7 tons of non-scheduled precursor chemicals were confiscated.
