The signature light show in Shenzhen’s Futian district, where 43 buildings synchronize in a ballet of light at night, will remain suspended from April 30 until the National Day holiday.
The urban management branch of the Futian district government said in a statement on Tuesday that the show will pause operations for six months to undergo comprehensive system maintenance and upgrades.
Since its debut eight years ago, the display has grown into a beloved city landmark, drawing crowds to its choreographed blend of color, motion, and music on weekends and holidays.

The suspension will give engineers time to conduct safety inspections, optimize intelligent control systems, and enhance visual effects ahead of a planned relaunch on Oct 1, 2026.
“This brief intermission is about ensuring the show’s long-term brilliance,” the bureau said in the statement. “We aim to return with safer infrastructure, more stable performance, and even more creative artistry.”
