RAMALLAH - The Palestinian presidency warned on Saturday that continued fighting in Gaza and escalating settler violence in the West Bank risked destabilizing the region.

Presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said 692 Palestinians had been killed since a ceasefire in Gaza took effect, adding that restrictions on humanitarian aid had worsened conditions in the enclave, according to a statement carried by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Abu Rudeineh also flagged a dangerous escalation in the West Bank, where he said settler attacks were being carried out under the protection of Israeli forces.

He warned that "irresponsible actions will not bring security or stability," and said regional conflicts would remain unresolved unless the Palestinian issue was addressed under international law, UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Abu Rudeineh urged the international community and the United States to press Israel to halt its military campaign, enforce the ceasefire, allow aid deliveries, and stop settler attacks.
