Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated on Sunday that China will facilitate international efforts to restore justice to the Palestinian people, while stressing that the two-state solution is the only equitable and widely-recognized solution to the Palestinian question.

Wang made the remarks at a news conference on China's foreign policy and external relations on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress.

"Turmoil and war need not be the fate of the Palestinian people," Wang said. "They have a legitimate right to be free from war and to enjoy peace and development."

He said the situation in Gaza tests the very foundation of international justice, adding that any other arrangements or new mechanisms must reinforce, rather than undermine the two-state solution.
