China hopes that the Netherlands' new government will continue to maintain an objective and rational attitude toward China and work with Beijing to advance bilateral relations, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry's spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks when asked about the new government at a daily press briefing.

Both countries are "important global economies and key partners to each other," he said.

"For a long time, the two sides have advanced cooperation in an open and pragmatic spirit, bringing benefits to the people of both countries.
