S. Korea issues national firefighting mobilization order over Gyeongju wildfire

SEOUL - South Korean fire authorities on Sunday issued a national firefighting mobilization order in response to a wildfire in Munmu Daewang-myeon, Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang province, Yonhap News Agency reported.

Authorities mobilized five vehicles and 25 personnel from special firefighting units in five areas, including Daegu, Daejeon, Ulsan, Gangwon province and South Chungcheong province.

Firefighting efforts have been hampered by strong winds of up to 9.5 meters per second at the scene, making it difficult to contain the main blaze.

No casualties have been reported so far, according to Yonhap.
