Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu has said the prospects for cooperation between the special administrative region and Vanuatu are broad and promising, highlighting that bilateral trade between the two places is continuing to grow.
The CE said this on Tuesday when he met Vanuatu Prime Minister Jotham Napat in the city to exchange views on issues of mutual interest. Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun also attended the meeting, according to a government notification.
Pointing out that Hong Kong enjoys both national and global opportunities under the “one country, two systems” principle, Lee said the SAR functions as a “super connector and super value-adder” in the pursuit of new growth opportunities in partnership with countries such as Vanuatu, a Belt and Road member state in the Global South.
