
Temperatures in Hong Kong are expected to dip in the next few days starting Tuesday night, with the mercury dropping to as low as 4 degrees Celsius on Thursday in Ta Kwu Ling in the New Territories, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
The HKO said in a weather update that an intense winter monsoon is forecast to affect southern China this week, bringing the city’s minimum temperature down to 12°C on Wednesday and 11°C on Thursday.

“It will be mainly cloudy and persistently cold from Wednesday to Friday,” the observatory said. “The minimum temperatures will be around 11 and 12 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories.“
Shek Kong in the New Territories could see 6°C on Thursday while the mercury could dip to 8°C in Tai Po, Sha Tin, and Tseung Kwan O.

Tuen Mun, Tsing Yi, Discovery Bay, Wong Chuk Hang, and Sai Kung could see a low of 9°C, according to the observatory.
The HKO urged members of the public to be aware of the change in weather and take care of elderly persons and persons with chronic medical conditions.
