Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad was brought to the hospital Tuesday morning after suffering a fall, according to his office.

The centenarian, who served twice as prime minister, was taken in by ambulance and arrived at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur at around 9:30 am, his spokesman Sufi Yusoff said.

“He had a fall early this morning and normally that requires an observation,” said Sufi. “He was conscious.”
