MACAO - The Macao team of Kuok Kin-hang, Fong Man-jou, and Cheang Pei-lok claimed the title of the men's team kata (amateurs) mass participation event at China's 15th National Games on Thursday.

The trio scored 42.7 points in the final to defeat the Hong Kong team. Guangdong and Guizhou shared the bronze medals.

"It's such a joy to win this gold medal at home," said Kuok, choking back emotion. "This is my last National Games, and I truly cherished the chance to fight once more with my teammates," he added.

Kuok, who earned Macao's first-ever National Games medal four years ago with a bronze, also won two silver medals at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Karate is one of the mass participation events at this year's National Games. A total of eight gold medals will be awarded, with the competition concluding on Saturday.
