ABIDJAN - Cote d'Ivoire's lower house election will be held on Dec 27, the country's Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) announced Thursday.
"Based on the proposal from the Independent Electoral Commission, the President of the Republic has signed a decree convening the electoral colleges for the election of deputies to the National Assembly on the date of Saturday, Dec 27, 2025," said Ibrahime Coulibaly-Kuibiert, president of the CEI.
Coulibaly-Kuibiert said the commission must hold the vote before Dec 31, when the current parliamentary term ends.
The electoral campaign is set for Dec 19-26, and results are expected between Dec 28 and 30, he added, noting that any disputes must be resolved by Jan 5 before the inaugural session on Jan 19.
Deputies in the National Assembly are elected for five-year terms by direct universal suffrage.
