Macao SAR Legislative Assembly election campaigns kick off

MACAO - Campaigns for the election of the eighth Legislative Assembly of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) kicked off on Saturday.

The campaigns will last for 14 days until Sept 12, according to the Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election. A launching ceremony was hosted at the city's Tap Seac Square.

Seng Ioi Man, chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, expressed hope that the candidate lists will, during the campaigning period, gain voter support through active exchanges and interactions, thereby conveying their political platforms and visions for serving Macao.

He also noted that all electoral procedures have been progressing in a lawful and orderly manner, calling on all members of society to uphold electoral integrity, adhere to the Legislative Assembly Election Law and the Electoral Affairs Commission guidelines, and ensure a fair, just, and clean electoral environment.

Sept 14 was set as the election day for Macao SAR's eighth Legislative Assembly.
