Putin, Kim among 26 foreign leaders to attend China V-Day event

Twenty-six foreign heads of state and government, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un, will attend China's V-Day commemorations, according to Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei.

At the invitation of the Chinese government, some parliamentary speakers, deputy prime ministers, senior representatives from various countries, heads of international organizations, and former political leaders will also attend the commemorative events.

Meanwhile, fifty foreign friends who had made contributions to China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) or their family representatives, from 14 countries, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Canada, will attend the commemorations.

Commemorations to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War will be held on Sept 3.

The announcement was made at a news conference on Thursday.
