BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.27 percent to 3,519.65 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.11 percent lower at 10,684.52 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.46 trillion yuan (about $204 billion), down from 1.71 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to the papermaking and ceramic sectors led the gains, while stocks in the shipbuilding, media and entertainment sectors led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.45 percent to close at 2,197.07 points on Monday.
