China stresses equality and mutual benefit in UK relations

China urged equality and mutual benefit in developing relations and resolving differences, following reports suggesting that it is considering lifting sanctions on certain British lawmakers who were previously sanctioned over Xinjiang-related issues.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Monday at a daily news briefing, that it was the United Kingdom (UK) that initially imposed unreasonable sanctions against Chinese individuals and entities, prompting China to subsequently take necessary countermeasures.

The rights and wrongs, as well as the whole sequence of events are very clear, he added.

Guo emphasized that equality, mutual benefit and moving in the same direction are the foundation for developing bilateral relations and the principle for resolving any differences.
