BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.75 percent to 3,377 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.1 percent lower at 10,122.11 points.
The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 1.47 trillion yuan (about $204.8 billion), up from 1.27 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to petroleum and shipbuilding led the gains, while those in the textile machinery as well as media and entertainment sectors were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.13 percent to close at 2,043.82 points Friday.
